The President of the United States Donald Trump and the President of Russia Vladimir Putin will meet in Alaska on Friday, August 15, 2025. The purpose of the negotiations is to discuss a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.

Donald Trump announced the upcoming meeting on his social network Truth Social, calling it 'long-awaited.' Russian President’s assistant Yuri Ushakov confirmed the preparation for the meeting and described the choice of Alaska as 'quite logical,' as Russia and the USA are close neighbors.

This will be the first in-person meeting between Putin and Trump since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine and Trump’s return to the White House. They last communicated in 2019.

The absence of the Ukrainian side at the negotiating table raises serious concerns. Experts and politicians believe that any decisions made without Ukraine's participation may be unacceptable for Kyiv and will not lead to lasting peace.
