Zodiacal Road
What is that strange light in the distance? It is dust rotating around the Sun. At certain times of the year, a band of reflective dust from the inner part of the Solar System appears shortly after sunset or before dawn, and is called zodiacal light. The main hypothesis suggests that this dust primarily comes from Jupiter-family comets. The photo taken on June 21, 2019, while ascending in Teide National Park in the Canary Islands, shows a bright triangle of zodiacal light shortly after sunset. In the frame, you can see the bright Regulus in the constellation Leo and the Beehive Cluster (M44).
