#USFedNewChair Trump has expanded his list of potential candidates to replace Jerome Powell once his term ends in May 2026. Among the most talked-about names are Kevin Hassett, Kevin Warsh, Christopher Waller, James Bullard, and Marc Sumerlin.
The “two Kevins” —Hassett and Warsh— are currently the favorites. Hassett was the director of the National Economic Council and close to the Trump administration, while Warsh is a former Fed governor with strong financial backing.
Despite expanding the group of contenders, Scott Bessent (Secretary of the Treasury) is already ruled out for the position, as he himself expressed his desire to remain in his current role.
