Crypto scam warning targeting TikTok Shop users

According to a report from cybersecurity firm CTM360, a sophisticated scam campaign named “ClickTok” is targeting users #TikTokShop worldwide. Scammers are using fake websites and AI videos to lure victims, especially young people, and steal their cryptocurrency.

Sophisticated scam tactics

The “ClickTok” campaign uses over 10,000 fake domains that closely resemble TikTok Shop to deceive users. Scammers run fake ads on Meta and create AI videos that look just like influencers to lure victims to fake online stores. Here, they sell heavily discounted products and demand payment in cryptocurrency, often #Tether (USDT).

Their main goal is to steal users' login information or install malware-laden applications. Additionally, they employ “advance fee scams” to target participants in TikTok Shop’s Affiliate Program, asking them to deposit money into fake crypto wallets to receive commissions.

CTM360's report serves as a serious warning, indicating that cybercriminals are increasingly diversifying their scam targets, shifting from traditional platforms to popular social networks with young people. Users need to be extremely cautious of enticing shopping invitations, especially when asked to pay with cryptocurrency. #anhbacong
