According to BlockBeats news on August 7, cybersecurity company SentinelLABS announced that it has discovered a series of cryptocurrency scams in which hackers spread malicious smart contracts disguised as trading bots to steal cryptocurrency users' wallets.
Hackers market through YouTube videos, explaining the nature of cryptocurrency trading bots and how to deploy smart contracts on the Remix Solidity compiler platform (a web-based Web3 project integrated development environment (IDE)). The video description shares a link to an external site hosting weaponized smart contract code. At the same time, attackers manage the YouTube comments section, deleting all negative comments.
After the victim deploys the smart contract, the attacker's wallet will be added and hidden by masquerading as a transaction address. Once the user funds the contract, the scammer can steal the funds.
