#Cardano Founder Amazed as 11,000 Addresses Across 8 Blockchains Claim 250M NIGHT Tokens Within Hours.
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has taken to X to celebrate the strong user participation in the ongoing Midnight’s Glacier Drop.
The Cardano founder expressed amazement at the progress of the Glacier Drop, which has seen a high level of user participation. He pointed out that there are already 11,000 redemptions for 250 million NIGHT tokens since the Glacier Drop launched. This suggests that at least 11,000 addresses across eight blockchains, including Cardano and XRPL, have collectively claimed 250 million NIGHT tokens so far, showing massive participation in the first stage of Midnight’s airdrop.
Since the claim portal went live, Hoskinson has been updating the crypto community about the claim progress. Three hours after the Glacier Drop launch, he stated that 4,300 blockchain addresses had claimed 77.04 million NIGHT tokens.
In the hours leading up to press time, the Cardano founder suggested that participation had soared, with 11,000 addresses claiming 250 million tokens.
Notably, users also took to X to share their experience in the Glacier Drop. Some said the process worked out nicely for them and have already claimed their tokens.
However, others, especially eligible Cardano community members using Ledger wallets, are still having difficulty claiming NIGHT. The Midnight Foundation team and Hoskinson have already identified the issue, which stems from Ledger’s implementation of CIP-8 message signing.
According to Hoskinson, Ledger’s protocol currently supports message signing of only 31 bytes, while the payload for the Glacier Drop is approximately 251 bytes—far exceeding Ledger’s current firmware limitations. Despite reaching out to Ledger to update its firmware last month, Hoskinson said the team behind the hardware wallet has yet to provide a timeline for the update. He confirmed that the Cardano team is deploying a “hack” that will enable eligible Cardano users to claim their NIGHT tokens.
