What is Rollup? And why has it become the password for Ethereum's expansion?

🧩 Have you ever heard of "rollups" and didn't understand what it meant?

Imagine you have 100 emails, and each one needs to be sent individually, with a cost for each send...

But what if you gathered these emails into one package and sent them all at once? That's exactly what the Rollup technology does on the blockchain network.

🔄 So what is Rollup then?

It is a method to aggregate a large number of transactions off the main network (Layer 1), and then send them all at once to Ethereum.

In this way:

We reduce costs

We increase speed

And alleviate pressure on the network

🔍 There are two main types:

1. Optimistic Rollups

Assume that all transactions are correct, and delay verification for a certain period.

> Examples: Optimism, Arbitrum

2. ZK Rollups (Zero-Knowledge Proofs)

Mathematically verify every transaction from the start, and send fast and accurate proofs.

> Examples: zkSync, StarkNet, Scroll

⚙️ Why is this important?

Because the Ethereum network has become congested, and fees are high.

Without solutions like Rollups, it cannot scale to serve billions of users in decentralized applications, NFTs, gaming, and decentralized finance (DeFi)

The "rollup" technology is the bridge that takes us from blockchain congestion... to internet speed!
