@WalletConnect has officially enabled the transfer of $WCT tokens, marking a significant milestone on its path to full decentralization.
Previously, WCT tokens were non-transferable and distributed exclusively to qualified contributors and builders. As of mid-April 2025, transferability is now live—broadening access to staking, governance, and fee-sharing for the wider community.
This evolution aligns the protocol more closely with permissionless principles, allowing anyone to obtain and use $WCT to participate in voting and governance.
The change also paves the way for $WCT to be listed on centralized exchanges, enhancing both its utility and on-chain engagement.
Validators such as Ledger, Kiln, Figment, and Quantnode are now actively securing the network through staked $WCT, further reinforcing trust and decentralization.
