Due to the surge in Bitcoin prices, they obtained a surplus of 1.3 million dollars after liquidation. Under UK law, victims can only receive compensation for the original amount, with the police allocating 665,000 dollars (500,000 pounds) to a crime-fighting fund for the purchase of drones, anti-fraud equipment, and more. The remaining amount goes to the government. The police stated that this move allows for full compensation to victims while additional funds will be used for crime prevention. The criminals involved have been sentenced.
