🇺🇸 U.S. Federal Developments

On March 6, 2025, President Trump signed an executive order establishing a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and a broader U.S. Digital Asset Stockpile. The Bitcoin reserve will be capitalized with BTC seized via forfeiture and cannot be sold, functioning as a long-term strategic asset .

About 198,000–200,000 BTC from the Treasury’s forfeiture holdings were placed in the reserve. Additional BTC acquisitions may be permitted, provided they are budget-neutral and taxpayer-safe .

The BITCOIN Act of 2025, co-sponsored by Senator Lummis, would codify the reserve and authorize up to 1 million BTC acquisitions over five years, with a 20-year minimum holding period
