Why Investors Are Betting Big on Old Meme Coins
According to CoinGecko data, the overall market capitalization of meme coins has increased by 17.33% over the past month. Among the top coins, Dogecoin (DOGE), Floki (FLOKI), and Pudgy Penguins (PENGU) experienced appreciation of 22.3%, 46.4%, and 116.6% respectively, which contributed significantly to the overall growth.
Additionally, just in the last day, the total market capitalization of meme coins has increased by 4.9% to nearly US$70 billion. Amid this market surge, an analyst with the pseudonym “boot” emphasized that investors are showing an increasing preference for established mid and large-cap meme coins compared to newly launched tokens.
“The best traders I know have fully switched to mid/high-cap memes. Very few of these tokens were launched in 2025. They will not touch new launches, regardless of the narrative. Do with that information what you will,” wrote the analyst.
