Lagrange (LA)'s recent fundraising round has been a resounding success! Sequoia and a16z jointly led a $23 million investment, bringing its valuation to $800 million and instantly propelling this decentralized storage + social project to the forefront.
Don't assume it's simply capitalizing on the storage trend; Lagrange's approach is quite ambitious: it breaks down users' social data (chat logs, creative content) into encrypted fragments and stores them on global nodes. This prevents data loss due to platform failure and allows you to easily transfer your data between platforms. For example, you can import your Discord connections into its ecosystem with a single click, eliminating the need to be a "platform employee."
The LA token's gameplay is also quite practical: staking allows you to earn returns as a storage node (currently around 12% annualized), and it's used to pay for content ownership and cross-platform data migration. Best of all, it's "data mining"—you can mine LA by contributing storage space or bandwidth. Even ordinary users can participate with their spare phones, and 100,000 people have already joined during the beta test phase.
There are currently 150 million tokens in circulation, and the raised tokens are locked up until 2026, so there's minimal short-term selling pressure. It's just been listed on Binance, so it might be a good time to invest.
