🚀 SHIB Was a Meme — Now It’s a Movement

The August 2020-founded SHIB turned five.

All-time high: $0.0000885 in Oct. 2021; $41B market value.

More than a meme, Shibarium, ShibaSwap, and 1.5M wallets prove it.

On its birthday cake, Shiba Inu blew out five candles. As of August 1, 2025, SHIB has grown from a joke to a major player in the crypto industry.

To mark the occasion, SHIB's social media head Lucie reflected on the chronology. No ego-stroking, just a simple piece on SHIB's wildest accomplishments, from price runs to becoming one of crypto's most devoted communities.

Rewind. SHIB was developed by the unknown person “Ryoshi” on August 1, 2020, and was first simply another silly currency. But things escalated quickly.

Lucie's article analyzed data. SHIB plummeted to $0.00000004 in March 2021. A couple months later? Absolute crazy. SHIB reached $0.0000885 and a $41 billion market worth on October 28, 2021.

Lucie noted that SHIB is available on 115 exchanges and owned in over 1.5 million wallets, which may have gone unnoticed. Since its launch, it has increased by... 21.600,000,000%. Not a typo.

SHIB goes beyond pricing charts and moon tweets. Lucie also highlighted infrastructure like ShibaSwap, their July 2021 decentralized exchange. Shibarium, a layer-2 chain, arrived in August 2023 to provide SHIB greater utility and decrease gas prices.

SHIBArmy veterans worldwide shared recollections and memes. Japanese KURO wrote, “SHIB, Happy 5th Birthday! Meme to movement!” Others posted throwbacks, early screenshots, and tributes to Ryoshi's vision.

SHIB became a crowd-powered movement, not a joke. After five years, the community still posts and builds.
