Arkham Reveals LuBian Hacker Identity, Holding 11,886 BTC
According to reports from Wu, Arkham has revealed the on-chain identity of the LuBian hacker for the first time. In December 2020, 127,426 BTC was stolen, making it the largest cryptocurrency theft case. The hacker still holds all of the stolen assets to this day.
Arkham pointed out that LuBian may have used a private key generation algorithm that is vulnerable to brute force attacks, creating a critical flaw. The hacker's most recent on-chain activity was in July 2024, suspected to be a consolidation operation on their holding address. LuBian still retains 11,886 BTC, currently valued at approximately 1.35 billion dollars.
