#ProjectCrypto is a regulatory initiative launched on July 31, 2025, by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) under the leadership of its new chairman, Paul Atkins.

The main objective of this program is to modernize securities regulations to fully integrate them into the crypto world, allowing U.S. financial markets to operate directly on-chain. The initiative aims to:

• Define which crypto assets are securities, which are commodities or stablecoins, resolving ambiguities generated by the Howey test.

• Create clear legal frameworks for activities such as ICO offerings, airdrops, staking, and network rewards, with tailored exemptions and disclosures.
