Trump Reinstates US Bitcoin Reserve Strategy
The Trump administration is pushing for a US Strategic Bitcoin Reserve to strengthen America's digital asset position. The recent government digital assets policy paper made no mention of a Bitcoin reserve, but White House Crypto Council Executive Director Robert Bo Hines confirmed that it is operating and a key part of the administration's digital asset strategy.
In an interview with Crypto In America, Hines said the US government created a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve in March and maintains a wider digital asset stockpile. Bitcoin is acknowledged by the government and organizations as distinct and elevated among cryptocurrencies.
Nansen thinks that the US government has about 198,000 BTC worth $22.8 billion. Hines observes that the Trump administration has not set a schedule for such announcements but has said that BTC accumulation is underway and fits with long-term infrastructure plans.
He also voiced confidence in the government's BTC policy, saying the people will like the Bitcoin Reserve process's path. The Trump administration also prioritizes crypto regulatory clarity. Hines stressed that growing the nation's BTC holdings is the major priority for now.
In an interview report, Hines discussed federal policy efforts like regulatory clarity, the GENIUS Act, and the anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act, which seeks to ban central bank digital currencies permanently.
Hines says upcoming leadership changes are also being considered. The former CFTC Commissioner Brian Quintenz was named by President Trump to lead the independent US agency, which might affect cryptocurrency regulation.
