(2) Forex Market Trading Hours

The forex market is open five days a week, 24 hours a day – trading hours are from Sunday at 10 PM to Friday at 11 PM (Swiss time). The reason for such long trading hours is that forex trading occurs directly between parties over-the-counter (OTC), rather than through a centralized exchange. Additionally, since the forex market is a truly global market, you can take advantage of trading hours across different active trading sessions at any time.

It is important to note that due to different daylight saving dates in various countries, the opening hours of the forex market may vary in March, April, October, and November.

Can you trade forex on weekends?

The forex market closes at 11 PM (Swiss time) on Friday and reopens at 10 PM (Swiss time) on Sunday. However, since the market is only closed to retail traders (excluding central banks and related institutions), forex trading can actually still occur over the weekend. This means there may be a difference between the closing price on Friday and the opening price on Sunday, known as a gap.

Traders need to pay close attention to weekend forex trading hours and adjust their positions accordingly. If you do not want your positions to face gap risk, consider closing positions on Friday night or setting stop-loss and limit orders to manage this risk. #ETHReclaims3800
