The Philippine government has announced the launch of a document verification system based on the Polygon blockchain to ensure the authenticity and transparency of budget documents, despite a brief network outage on the same day. The project, implemented by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) in collaboration with local company Bayanichain, uses blockchain to record file data hashes for public query and verification. Officials say the move is aimed at preventing the risks posed by AI deepfakes and enhancing the credibility of government governance.
