Here Is the Price of XRP If It Handles 28% of SWIFT Transactions in the Next Decade
July 29, 2025Bruno Costa
The value proposition of XRP continues to attract attention, especially as speculation increases about its role in transforming international markets. At the recent 2025 XRPL Apex event, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse shared his perspective on the future of the XRP Ledger (XRPL), particularly regarding SWIFT, the worldâs leading global messaging network for cross-border transactions.
Garlinghouse explained that XRP is not intended to replace SWIFT's messaging infrastructure but rather to complement it through superior liquidity solutions. When asked how much of SWIFT's volume the XRPL could realistically capture, he provided a conservative estimate of 14% over the next five years.
However, broader analysis explored a more aggressive figure â XRP handling 28% of SWIFT's global transaction volume in the next decade. Given that SWIFT processes about $150 trillion annually, 28% would equate to $42 trillion in cross-border activity. Using different speed scenarios, calculations estimate that the price of XRP could reach: $175 per token if XRP turns four times a year (token velocity = 4) $350 per token if the velocity drops to just two annual cycles (velocity = 2) These projections are based on 60 billion XRP in circulation and XRP being the only bridge asset for these flows. The price could rise even further if the circulating supply of XRP decreases over time due to token removals or long-term holding.
