• The new Samsung plant in Texas will produce Tesla AI6 chips.

  • Musk stated that he will personally monitor the project's effectiveness.

  • The AI6 chip is intended for FSD, Optimus robots, and #AI processing centers.

The company #Tesla signed a contract with Samsung worth $16.5 billion for the production of AI chips AI6. The new factory of the Korean electronics manufacturer in Texas will be fully dedicated to the production of these chips. Elon Musk noted that the significance of the project 'is hard to overstate' and that he will take personal control of the launch process.

Samsung’s giant new Texas fab will be dedicated to making Tesla’s next-generation AI6 chip. The strategic importance of this is hard to overstate.

Samsung currently makes AI4.

TSMC will make AI5, which just finished design, initially in Taiwan and then Arizona.

The Tesla AI6 chip, also known as Hardware 6, will be a universal solution for the company's key areas. It is planned to be used both in the Full Self‑Driving driver assistance system and in Tesla Optimus humanoid robots. Additionally, data centers for training large language models of the company xAI will be created based on it.

Elon Musk reported that Tesla continues to collaborate with TSMC on the production of AI5 chips. They will be manufactured first in Taiwan and then at the factory in Arizona. These chips are primarily intended for autonomous driving systems. According to Musk, Samsung is already producing the previous generation of AI4 chips.

The signed contract provides for the possibility of increasing production. Musk stated that the actual volume of production 'will likely be several times higher' than the stated $16.5 billion. He also noted that Tesla would help Samsung optimize the manufacturing processes at the new plant located near his home.

Musk's company began developing its own chips after moving away from Nvidia's solutions in 2019. Soon after, the company introduced the FSD Computer (Hardware 3), created with the participation of Samsung. This system with redundant computing modules is used in all Tesla electric vehicles, providing the necessary redundancy for autonomous driving.

The focus on its own AI chips has become a key element of the company's strategy to expand its presence in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics. Musk emphasized that the new platform will allow the company to accelerate the development of both automotive technologies and AI projects, including robots and data analysis systems.
