Metaplanet continues to expand its Bitcoin reserves, moving closer to its 2026 target
The Tokyo-listed company Metaplanet has added 780 BTC to its reserves, bringing its total Bitcoin holdings to 17,132 $BTC , worth over 2 billion USD. This is part of a long-term commitment to accumulate digital assets, aiming for a significant goal next year.
Strong accumulation strategy and bold targets
Metaplanet is ramping up its Bitcoin treasury strategy by using capital from issuing shares. The company issued more than 23 million shares in July through a rights offering, using the proceeds to buy more Bitcoin and repurchase corporate bonds.
The rate of Bitcoin accumulation of #metaplanet this year coincides with the rollout of the updated "555 million Plan." This plan sets a new target of 100,000 BTC by the end of 2026 and 210,000 BTC by 2027. To achieve 100,000 BTC by the end of 2026, Metaplanet will need approximately 10 billion USD (equivalent to about 4,900 BTC each month for the next 17 months if prices remain stable).
Metaplanet is positioning itself as one of the most active Bitcoin-holding companies, second only to Michael Saylor's Strategy in ambition. However, the sustainability of this strategy depends on continued investor interest and will be most clearly validated when the bull market concludes.
