Donald Trump has warned Cambodia and Thailand to end their conflict or face increased U.S. tariffs. The fighting, now in its third day, has killed over 33 people and displaced more than 168,000.
While in Scotland for golf and diplomacy, Trump called both countries’ leaders, urging a ceasefire. He said the U.S. won’t discuss trade deals until the violence stops, using the same tactic he claimed worked with India and Pakistan earlier this year.
Trump already announced a 36% tariff on most exports from Cambodia and Thailand, set to begin August 1. He hinted more penalties could follow if peace isn’t reached soon.
