#noticiascripto 🚨🔥Meta will prohibit all political ads across the EU starting October 2025
Meta will stop publishing political ads across the European Union starting October 2025. The operator of Facebook and Instagram, led by Zuckerberg, cites what it considers new regulations too complicated that make it too risky to continue.
The decision, disclosed on Friday, follows the implementation of the EU's Transparency and Targeting of Political Advertising Regulation (TTPA). The law is part of the EU's effort to clean up how online politics is conducted, ensuring that voters know who is behind the ads they see and why they were targeted.
The company argues that the regulation creates "significant operational challenges and legal uncertainties." As a result, the company will no longer allow ads related to "political, electoral, and social issues" within the jurisdictions of the EU starting in October.
"We still believe that online political advertising is a vital part of modern politics," Meta said in a statement.
Another knot in Meta's tense relationship with Brussels
EU lawmakers claim they are increasingly alarmed by how easy it is for foreign actors and bad-faith campaigns to influence voters using targeted online ads.
