According to Foresight News, Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru has indicated to close associates his intention to announce his resignation by August, following the Liberal Democratic Party's (LDP) assessment of the Senate election results. Ishiba plans to meet with LDP Chief Advisor Taro Aso, LDP Vice President Yoshihide Suga, and former Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to discuss his future.

After a significant defeat in the Senate elections, Ishiba initially expressed his intention to remain in office. However, he is now facing increasing demands and criticism from within the party to step down. The timing of his final decision remains uncertain.

In addition to calls from local party organizations for Ishiba's resignation and internal reforms, senior and younger party members are advocating for a meeting of the "General Assembly of Both Houses of Parliament," a decision-making body second only to the party congress, to hold an early election vote.
