【Ethereum Block Gas Limit Increased to 45 Million, Transaction Processing Capacity Increased by 25%】Golden Finance reports that according to The Block, the Gas limit on the Ethereum blockchain has been raised to 45 million units, a 25% increase from the 36 million units set in February 2025. This increase was activated at block number 22,968,004, with support from nearly 50% of validators. This adjustment does not require a hard fork and aims to improve the network's transaction throughput and scalability. Developers also introduced security measures such as EIP-7983, setting the maximum Gas usage per transaction at 16.77 million units to prevent denial-of-service attacks. Ethereum's short-term goal is to achieve a Gas limit of 60 million per block, while the long-term goal is to reach 150 million Gas units per block through the upcoming Fusaka hard fork.
