China has successfully tested a new high-speed maglev train in Hubei Province that accelerates faster than many commercial planes.
The train hit 404 mph (650 km/h) in just seven seconds on a special elevated track. Developed by Donghu Laboratory, it weighs 1.1 tons and uses magnetic levitation to eliminate friction and achieve incredible speeds.
In earlier tests, the train even reached 600 mph, positioning it as a strong contender for the title of the world’s fastest train. Once in service, it could reduce travel times so much that it rivals air travel.
Countries currently using maglev technology include China, Japan, and South Korea.
