How to participate? Is it worth participating?

The TGE of Linea has not yet arrived, and the MetaMask "Odyssey" event has already followed closely.
Recently, the Promotions section was launched on the MetaMask web version MetaMask Portfolio, listing several MetaMask tasks that the community sees as part of the MetaMask Odyssey event.
MetaMask Task Overview
MetaMask tasks (MetaMask Missions) last for three weeks, from July 21 at 21:00 to August 9 at 10:00. The sponsor of this MetaMask task is Consensys Software Inc.
Participants must mint an NFT for free on the Linea chain as a "ticket" and then complete a series of tasks to earn lottery chances. Tasks include token tasks (exchanging or cross-chaining specific tokens) and network tasks (executing 10 exchanges or cross-chain activities on a specific network).
The more lottery chances you have, the higher your probability of winning. Rewards are distributed in the form of a lottery, and participants can earn lottery chances by completing tasks. However, the weekly prize pool is only $5,000. Winners are randomly selected through an on-chain randomization process via smart contracts, and the list will be drawn after the end of each week.
How to participate?
1. Mint a task pass NFT for free on the Linea network (gas fees apply), which is a prerequisite for participating in the event. After minting, users can unlock access to weekly tasks. After minting this NFT, you will automatically receive one lottery chance each week.
2. Week 1 tasks (completing all tasks activates a 2x multiplier):
AUSDC Task on the Ethereum Network: Exchange AUSDC on the Ethereum network, transfer AUSDC from other networks to Ethereum, or transfer AUSDC from Ethereum to other networks. Exchanging or transferring 10-49.99 AUSDC earns 1 lottery chance, exchanging or transferring 50-99.99 AUSDC earns 5 lottery chances, and exchanging or transferring over 100 AUSDC earns 10 lottery chances.
ONDO Task on the Ethereum Network: Exchange ONDO on the Ethereum network, transfer ONDO from other networks to Ethereum, or transfer ONDO from Ethereum to other networks. Exchanging or transferring 10-49.99 ONDO earns 1 lottery chance, exchanging or transferring 50-99.99 ONDO earns 5 lottery chances, and exchanging or transferring over 100 ONDO earns 10 lottery chances.
Linea Network Task: Execute 10 cross-chain transfers or exchanges of any tokens on, to, or from the Linea network to win 10 lottery chances.
Ethereum Network Task: Execute 10 cross-chain transfers or exchanges of any tokens on, to, or from the Ethereum network to win 10 lottery chances.
Week 1 Prize Pool: $5,000 in assets, and winners will receive either $500 worth of ONDO or $500 worth of AUSDC.
3. Week 2 tasks (completing all tasks activates a 2x multiplier):
EURE Task on the Arbitrum Network: Exchange EURE on the Arbitrum network, transfer EURE from other networks to Arbitrum, or transfer EURE from Arbitrum to other networks. Exchanging or transferring 10-49.99 EURE earns 1 lottery chance, exchanging or transferring 50-99.99 EURE earns 5 lottery chances, and exchanging or transferring over 100 EURE earns 10 lottery chances.
LDO Task on the Arbitrum Network: Exchange LDO on the Arbitrum network, transfer LDO from other networks to Arbitrum, or transfer LDO from Arbitrum to other networks. Exchanging or transferring 10-49.99 LDO earns 1 lottery chance, exchanging or transferring 50-99.99 LDO earns 5 lottery chances, and exchanging or transferring over 100 LDO earns 10 lottery chances.
Optimism Network Task: Execute 10 cross-chain transfers or exchanges of any tokens on, to, or from the Optimism network to win 10 lottery chances.
Arbitrum Network Task: Execute 10 cross-chain transfers or exchanges of any tokens on, to, or from the Arbitrum network to win 10 lottery chances.
Week 2 Prize Pool: A total of $5,000 in assets, and winners will receive either $500 worth of EURE or $500 worth of LDO.
4. Week 3 tasks (completing all tasks activates a 2x multiplier)
Arbitrum Network COMP Task: Exchange COMP on the Arbitrum network, transfer COMP from other networks to Arbitrum, or transfer COMP from Arbitrum to other networks. Exchanging or transferring 0.2-0.99 COMP earns 1 lottery chance, exchanging or transferring 1-1.99 COMP earns 5 lottery chances, and exchanging or transferring over 2 COMP earns 10 lottery chances.
Arbitrum Network WBTC Task: Exchange WBTC on the Arbitrum network, transfer WBTC from other networks to Arbitrum, or transfer WBTC from Arbitrum to other networks. Exchanging or transferring 0.0001-0.00049 WBTC earns 1 lottery chance, exchanging or transferring 0.0005-0.00099 WBTC earns 5 lottery chances, and exchanging or transferring over 0.001 WBTC earns 10 lottery chances.
BSC Network Task: Execute 10 cross-chain transfers or exchanges of any tokens on, to, or from the BSC network to win 10 lottery chances.
Polygon Network Task: Execute 10 cross-chain transfers or exchanges of any tokens on, to, or from the Polygon network to win 10 lottery chances.
Week 3 Prize Pool: $5,000 in assets, and winners will receive either $500 worth of EURE or $500 worth of LDO.
Notes: All interaction operations must be completed using MetaMask's built-in native Swap or Bridge functions. Only exchanges and cross-chains conducted using these two built-in functions will be counted in the event. Using third-party dApps (even through MetaMask) will not earn lottery chances.
Is it worth participating?
As mentioned earlier, the MetaMask Missions prize pool is only $5,000 per week, with individual rewards of $500 and only 10 winners each week. The NFT pass that I minted around 15:25 has a serial number of 42,600. If the goal is solely to "gamble for a lottery," the cost-effectiveness of participation is very limited. For users who only complete the NFT pass minting (1 lottery chance per week), the probability is close to zero. If you want to obtain more lottery chances, you also need to bear a 0.875% platform fee and gas fees for each exchange or cross-chain.
However, the community speculates that this event may be related to a future MetaMask token airdrop. ConsenSys founder Joseph Lubin responded to users about whether MetaMask would launch a token in June, stating that ConsenSys has short-term and medium-term strategic plans involving the protocolization of existing products and other projects, while Web3 protocols usually require token support. Lubin emphasized that LINEA will be the first to launch a token, and more tokens will be released in the future, with synergy between different protocols.
Given Joseph Lubin's statement, it has become clear that MetaMask will issue tokens. This event requires users to complete interactions through MetaMask's built-in features, and its data is very likely to be included in the future airdrop "qualification assessment system" (such as interaction frequency, participation duration, network coverage, etc.).
Of course, whether to participate depends on the user's own positioning as well as the cost and time involved. If you have a long-term positive outlook on the ConsenSys ecosystem (such as Linea, MetaMask, etc.), it might be worth a try. If you are not interested in the lottery mechanism, complicated tasks, or the prospects of MetaMask airdrops, you can decisively give up.
If you decide to participate, you can significantly reduce costs in the following ways:
1. Try to avoid tasks on the Ethereum mainnet, or only perform necessary operations during periods of low gas fees;
2. Network tasks (10 cross-chain transfers or exchanges) can be done with very small amounts.
