Hong Kong Unveils New Initiatives to Boost Innovation and Technology
According to PANews, Hong Kong’s Financial Secretary Paul Chan marked the opening of the 35th Hong Kong Book Fair on July 16 by highlighting the city’s growing focus on innovation and technology. A new feature of this year’s event is the 'Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Flash Display Zone,' showcasing advancements in AI and tech. The Hong Kong SAR Government has designated artificial intelligence as a strategic industry, with strong emphasis on supporting foundational research and turning innovations into practical applications. The government is also focused on fostering local startups and attracting leading global tech firms to establish operations in the region. Additional efforts include accelerating the development of the Northern Metropolis and deepening ties with cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to position Hong Kong as a tech hub and provide diverse, high-quality opportunities for the city’s youth.
