In-depth breakdown #WalletConnect — The default interface of the Web3 world
When we access the Web3 world, if wallets are the 'keys', then WalletConnect is the 'universal adapter'. It allows you to easily and securely connect your wallet to any DApp, like USB hot-swapping. We use it every day, just not noticing that it has silently become the infrastructure for all on-chain interactions.
🔸 What is $WCT ?
$WCT is @WalletConnect the first step to launch decentralization.
This token is primarily used to incentivize key roles in the network, such as node operators, wallets, developers, etc., and also to allow community users to participate in governance. In simple terms, it aims to use tokens to make the entire connection protocol network more open and more autonomous.
🔸 What is this network about?
WalletConnect has established a communication architecture of service nodes + gateway nodes, along with relay services, supporting end-to-end encryption and high availability. Next is to gradually open up node permissions, encouraging more people to connect and participate.
WCT participates in staking and governance. This is not just empty talk; it truly makes connection a long-running system.
🔸 Exploding usage, truly landed
WalletConnect currently supports over 600 wallets and more than 40,000 DApps, with total connection times exceeding 275 million— you may have used MetaMask or Uniswap many times, and in fact, it relies on WalletConnect to 'open the channels'. Such a level of landing and real usage data is rare in the Web3 track.
🔸 Team updates, clear roadmap
Recently, the WalletConnect team renamed itself to Reown, focusing more on user experience. Two new product stacks have also begun to land:
AppKit is for developers, providing a one-stop integration of user registration, wallet login, message push, and more;
WalletKit helps wallets improve user interface friendliness and interaction efficiency, and can also use Reown Cloud for behavior analysis.
At the same time, Reown has also released a three-phase plan to address cross-chain interaction issues, from infrastructure connectivity, to introducing new standards (like EIP-7702, Session Keys), and finally enabling users to conduct cross-chain transactions smoothly like using Alipay. It can be said that it is gradually dismantling the 'pain points' for Web3 users.
🔸 In terms of the token model, WCT is not just for show.
It has four main uses: a medium for paying network service fees, ecological incentives, node staking certificates, and community governance voting rights. Simply put, holding WCT not only allows you to 'earn', but also to 'manage' and 'participate in building'. From this perspective, it is no longer a traditional 'platform token', but a practical tool designed around the connection of rights and responsibilities.
🎈 WalletConnect (now Reown) is a veteran. It has accumulated over the years to create a solid 'Web3 USB interface'. If Web3 is to break the circle, this middleware that lowers the threshold and connects everything is an unassuming soul wedge.
