According to CoinWorld news, UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves is considering selling Bitcoin assets seized by the police to fill the public finance gap. This batch of assets is valued at over £5 billion, partly originating from the seizure of 61,000 Bitcoins from a Chinese Ponzi scheme in 2018, whose current value has increased by about 20 times. The Home Office is advancing the establishment of a 'cryptocurrency asset custody and disposal framework' to centrally manage and sell the related crypto assets, and has already tendered for the project, with a maximum commission cap of £40 million.
