🚨 🇸🇾 🇮🇱 The Syrian presidency has announced an "immediate ceasefire" in the city of Suweida, in the south of the country, in an attempt to end a week of sectarian violence that has left hundreds dead.
Chaotic gunfire has erupted in the streets of the city between local Bedouin tribes and the Druze community, both accused of atrocities. Very graphic images show bodies littering the streets.
"This moment demands the unity of ranks and total cooperation in order to overcome what we are all going through," said the interim president of Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa.
The ceasefire comes as Syrian internal security forces have been deployed to Suweida to put an end to the clashes - a decision approved by Israel on the condition that Druze citizens are protected.
