🔥 Ethereum ETFs Outpace Bitcoin—A Historic Shift in Daily Flows! 🚀🪙
For the first time in 18 months, US spot-crypto ETFs saw the day's largest institutional capital flow into Ethereum, not Bitcoin. Net subscriptions across the nine US spot Ether ETFs were $602 million on Thursday, surpassing the $522.6 million in the 11-strong cohort of U spot Bitcoin ETFs. In a market where Bitcoin has dominated inflows since July 2024.
Thursday's surge came less than 24 hours after Ethereum funds set a single-day record with $726 million, boosting cumulative holdings to just under five million ETH and raising the spot price of the underlying token above $3,400 for the first time since January.
BlackRock's iShares Ethereum Trust (ticker ETHA) led the day with $550 million, its second straight personal high, surpassing its flagship Bitcoin product IBIT. According to Arkham Intelligence and Farside Investors flow statistics, ETHA has earned $1.25 billion in the previous five sessions and possesses about $7 billion in ETH
On X, Bloomberg Intelligence analyst James Seyffart said, “As a group the US spot Ether ETFs have taken in over $5.5 billion since launch, including more than $3.3 billion since mid-April.” The reinstatement of a double-digit cash-and-carry basis on CME Ether futures contributes to the magnetism, but it does not explain demand. Seyffart's CME open interest chart reveals a significant rise in nominal ETH and a dollar-value trend that rivals early-2025 Bitcoin futures activity.
Beyond arbitrage, structural tailwinds exist. Nasdaq has filed to add native staking to BlackRock's ETHA, which may boost its headline yield over 5% and make Ether ETFs a unique combination of growth asset and income tool.
Bitcoin remains the unquestioned scale leader. Spot BTC ETFs have over $150 billion in assets and $53 billion in net inflows since January 2024: ETF Store president Nate Geraci tweeted that Bitcoin demand remains strong, with spot BTC products seeing inflows in 26 of the previous 27 sessions, bringing in over $10 billion in institutional money.
