When I started my adventure with the crypto market, I made several typical mistakes. Today I share 5 key lessons that could have saved me stress, money, and time – maybe you will find them useful too:
1️⃣ Not everything that rises must continue to rise.
At first, I fell into classic #FOMO – I saw that a certain token was rising dynamically, so I bought 'because it was rising'. Without strategy, without analysis, without an exit plan.
Today I approach the market differently. I use the knowledge I've gained and share with you on my channel – including learning trading, technical analysis, or using Fibonacci levels to determine potential resistance and support zones.
I try to identify local lows during a bear market, looking for optimal moments to enter – instead of blindly chasing the trend. It’s analysis and patience that give the advantage – not hype.
2️⃣ Security is fundamental.
At that time I kept most of my funds on exchanges – because it was convenient. It was only when one of the platforms I had funds on disappeared that I understood what 'not your keys, not your coins' meant.
Currently, I use hardware wallets, preferably with the so-called air-gapped function (physically disconnected from the internet), I use two-factor authentication (2FA), create backups of seed phrases, and continuously educate myself on security.
Crypto is not only freedom – it is also responsibility.
3️⃣ Regulations in Poland and taxes.
When I made my first significant profit – I was as happy as a child. Until the time for the PIT-38 settlement came and… I faced reality.
In Poland, there are specific tax regulations regarding cryptocurrencies. Unfortunately, ignorance of the law does not exempt you from the obligation to pay taxes. It's worth understanding from the start how taxation of crypto profits works, when you need to submit declarations, how to document transactions – and it's best to consult a tax advisor or accountant who knows the topic.
4️⃣ Don't invest more than you can afford to lose.
It may seem trivial, but everyone has to experience this firsthand. When the price starts to drop, and you’ve invested more than you could afford – panic begins.
Today I invest only those funds that I can freeze for a longer time – without impacting my daily life or other obligations. The cryptocurrency market is extremely volatile – and you have to be ready for any scenario, including a drop of 70–90%.
This approach brings peace and allows for better decisions – without pressure.
5️⃣ Understand the project before you buy the token.
More than once, I invested only because the project had a nice website, a well-known logo, or was recommended by popular influencers.
Today I know that DYOR (Do Your Own Research) is not an empty slogan. It’s fundamental.
Before I invest, I analyze the project in terms of technology, team, tokenomics, real-world application, and competition. I check who is behind it, how the development is financed, and whether the token has any utility.
Nowadays, anyone can create a token and a nice website – the question is whether there is real value behind it.
🔚 In conclusion.
The cryptocurrency market is a huge opportunity but also a minefield for beginners. It's not about getting discouraged – it’s about learning from mistakes (preferably others'), approaching the topic wisely, and… not losing common sense.
If you are at the beginning of your journey – I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.
And if you are already active in the market – write which points you agree with and which ones you would add to the list.
Knowledge and experience are our greatest advantage in this world. 💡
