The United States Investigates Brazil's Digital Payment System Pix, Targeting Financial Decoupling from BRICS

The United States has officially launched an investigation into Brazil's digital payment policies, focusing on the instant payment system Pix introduced by the Central Bank of Brazil, which has rapidly replaced the market share of American companies such as Visa and Mastercard. U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer pointed out that the investigation will assess whether Brazil has established unfair barriers against U.S. companies and penalize those American companies that refuse to review political speech. Previously, Trump criticized Brazil for suing former President Bolsonaro and even threatened to impose a 50% tariff on Brazilian goods starting in August. Although Pix is limited to domestic use, it can bypass U.S. systems like SWIFT when combined with cryptocurrency financial bridges, alongside BRICS promoting 'de-dollarization,' which has triggered strong vigilance from the U.S.
