💰 A Colombian farmer stumbled upon 600 million dollars in cash buried while digging an irrigation trench on his family ranch.
Jose Mariena Cartolos, 65, had just received a government grant of 3,000 dollars to start an oil palm plantation when he discovered several large blue containers filled with cash.
This fortune is believed to be part of the infamous 30 billion dollar stash of Pablo Escobar, which the drug lord had hidden throughout Colombia before his death. Unfortunately for Cartolos, he will not be able to keep the money: authorities plan to use it for social and economic programs in the country.
This discovery has sparked renewed interest in Escobar's hidden riches and could trigger a "gold rush" of treasure hunters flocking to the Colombian countryside in hopes of uncovering a portion of the deceased cartel leader's fortune.
