The developers intend to significantly increase the performance of the BNB Chain network, launched by the cryptocurrency exchange Binance.

The programmers shared their plans, according to which updates are expected to be released from the second half of 2025 to 2026, including:

Increasing the gas limit from 100 million to 1 billion;

Release of a client for blockchain validators based on the Rust programming language and the modular architecture Reth used in the Ethereum network;

Implementation of Super Instructions smart contract features, allowing multiple operations to be executed in a single action;

Improvement of the StateDB system, used for managing accounts, wallets, and smart contracts.

All these upgrades are aimed at increasing blockchain performance. According to experts, if the update implementation process goes smoothly, BNB Chain will be able to process 20,000 transactions per second next year, and the transaction confirmation time will take less than 150 milliseconds. Currently, the network can process 1,731 transactions per second, meaning that if successful, the throughput will increase by 11.6 times.

The developers decided to enhance the blockchain's performance due to its growing popularity. In the first half of 2025, network users performed an average of 12.4 million transfers daily, and at one point executed 17.6 million transactions in a single day. Such a volume of operations compels programmers to scale the blockchain, or it will become hopelessly outdated. Currently, BNB Chain lags 40% behind the Solana (SOL) blockchain in terms of maximum operations processed per second — 1,731 compared to 2,909.
