According to updated official data, the US government has less than 29 thousand $BTC (equivalent to approximately $3.4 billion at the time of writing). This is significantly less than previously circulated estimates of about 200,000 BTC, which were valued at over $24 billion.

The information was revealed by an independent journalist on the X platform (formerly Twitter), after receiving it in response to a request to the US Marshals Service dated March 24, 2025.

These data have raised a wave of questions, as the analytical platform Arkham Intelligence reports that the US government controls over 200,000 BTC, including assets seized in various cryptocurrency cases (such as Silk Road, Bitfinex, Helix).

As the journalist explained, the US Marshals Service regularly liquidates assets through public auctions, so if no sale has been announced, the provided list is considered credible. The journalist also offered to provide a complete list of addresses and details, noting that those interested could contact her directly.
