🇺🇸 The US government has sold off 85% of its Bitcoin holdings before Trump? What is the truth?
📌 According to newly updated data, the official wallet of the US government only holds ~28,988 BTC, worth around $3.47B — which is less than 15% of the total amount of BTC that has ever been seized.
📌 So, has the remaining 85% been sold off?
- The majority of the seized BTC is still in a state of "temporary custody", not yet fully adjudicated by the court.
- In the case of Bitfinex, which seized over 90,000 BTC, the government may have to return most of it to the victims → legal constraints will not allow for it to be sold off.
