The United States government (U.S.), through the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), has initiated a formal investigation against Brazil for alleged unfair trade practices. Among the main points of the inquiry is Pix, an instant payment system developed by the Central Bank, which is claimed to be promoted in a way that favors local companies over international competitors.

The report released yesterday (15) states that Brazil 'seems to engage in a series of unfair practices regarding electronic payment services, including, among others, the promotion of its services developed by the government.'
