Bitcoin may have to face quantum computers. Casa CTO Jameson Lopp proposed a new plan to freeze 1 million BTC and other assets vulnerable to quantum attacks that are held by Satoshi Nakamoto. According to Deloitte research, about 25% of Bitcoin is at potential risk. The proposal will gradually prohibit sending funds to these old addresses and fully freeze them within five years to encourage users to transition to quantum-resistant address types. If action is not taken early, the entire Bitcoin network could be severely impacted once quantum computers mature.
