🔍The first myth — everyone in a corporate company is smarter than you.
This is a very common illusion, especially among those who are planning to join some top Western company. It seems that there are superhumans with IQs of 150+, MBAs from Oxford, who solve problems from Olympiads in their spare time, and in the evening, they trade, invest, and work on startups in blockchain.
But in reality? Corporations employ a very ordinary selection of people. Some are really great, some are just average, and some are frankly "not that impressive," but they manage to stay for years due to their communication skills and ability to "sell" themselves. Many people's knowledge becomes outdated, some live off presentations, others on calls, and some simply just bide their time.
This doesn't mean there aren't cool specialists there — there are. But they make up about 10-20%. The rest either do exactly what is required by KPIs or just go with the flow, only caring about how to keep their salary and benefits with minimal effort.
So don't think that you are somehow different, "not good enough," or that they only hire stars. There are people just like you, with the same problems, insecurities, and procrastination. Just in a beautiful open space with the logo of a well-known company.
