Binance, the largest virtual asset exchange in terms of trading volume and registered users globally, recently had a meeting between its CEO Richard Teng and Deputy Director of the Taiwan Criminal Investigation Bureau, Chiu Shao-Chou, to discuss crime prevention related to virtual assets. At the same time, Binance received a commemorative badge from the Criminal Investigation Bureau as a token of appreciation for its cooperation and assistance in combating financial crime. Both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on several key issues related to crime fighting, including how to enhance law enforcement effectiveness through technological collaboration and information sharing to respond to changes in criminal methods brought about by technological development. During the meeting, the Criminal Investigation Bureau expressed its recognition and gratitude for the long-term support provided by Binance.
Binance CEO Richard Teng stated: "Receiving recognition from the Criminal Investigation Bureau is an honor for Binance, and it once again confirms Binance's firm commitment to cooperating with law enforcement agencies to combat illegal activities."
We believe that building a secure ecosystem requires collective cooperation and strong partnerships. In the future, Binance will continue to lead by example in this regard and work hand in hand with all sectors to safeguard the security and trust of the industry.
In addition to previously announced cooperation cases, in a recent law enforcement cooperation case, Binance complied with a request from Taiwanese law enforcement agencies to transfer illicit funds from a criminal organization, worth over NT$26 million, back to a designated address provided by Taiwanese law enforcement. These cases highlight the value of public-private collaboration and are an essential cornerstone in safeguarding the integrity of the overall financial system.
Since 2022, the number of requests responded to by Binance from Taiwan's law enforcement agencies has been growing year by year, and over 20 educational training sessions have been conducted in Taiwan, with more than 2,000 participants.
According to statistics, Binance has responded to over 240,000 requests from law enforcement agencies worldwide and has held over 400 educational training sessions globally to assist in the use of blockchain technology to combat criminal activities, demonstrating its commitment to promoting public-private partnerships and building a secure financial environment.
