DPoS on Hive: Fast, efficient, and secure consensus! 🤝⚡
The Hive blockchain uses the Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) consensus mechanism. As of July 2025, DPoS on Hive works as follows:
Block Producers (Witnesses): HIVE holders vote for 20-30 "witnesses" (Witnesses) who are responsible for producing blocks and maintaining the network. These Witnesses receive rewards for their work.
Speed and Efficiency: DPoS allows Hive to achieve high transaction speeds (3 seconds per block) and low operational costs.
Security: A high number of delegates and the community's ability to quickly change them ensures security and resilience against centralization.
Governance: The DPoS system also forms the basis for decentralized governance, where the community elects those who support the network and make decisions. DPoS makes Hive one of the fastest and most efficient blockchains for social and gaming applications.
