CoinWorld News reports that on July 15, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin posted on social media stating that the best way to build layer 2 networks is to rely more on the security, censorship resistance, proof, and data availability provided by layer 1 networks, and to simplify its own logic to merely act as a sorter and prover (if based on proof, then only as a prover) for core execution. Vitalik pointed out that this combination of trust minimization and efficiency is the goal pursued but not achieved by enterprise-level blockchain teams in the 2010s. Now, this goal can be realized through Ethereum's layer 2 networks. He added that there are successful cases showing that when problems occur in layer 2 networks, the functions of layer 1 networks can protect user rights. [CoinWorld News]
