PANews reported on July 15 that the funding source of the decentralized finance project World Liberty Financial (WLFI), supported by Trump, has come under scrutiny. Previously, a mysterious donor named 'Aqua 1' announced a $100 million contribution to the project, claiming it was from the UAE. However, the latest investigation revealed that 'Aqua 1' is actually a shell company linked to the controversial company Web3port.
Web3port is a market maker that was banned by several decentralized exchanges in 2023 for alleged market manipulation. Its founder, 'Dave Lee', is only active online under an anime avatar, and his true identity remains a mystery. Additionally, 'Aqua 1' is not registered in the UAE and has not disclosed any responsible information.
While the funds were promoted for 'digital freedom infrastructure', they were actually transferred through opaque wallets and offshore accounts, directly linked to Web3port.
According to previous news, Aqua 1 announced a strategic investment of $100 million in the WLFI governance token.
