Bitcoin opens new week with record high: 'Crypto Week' has arrived
#Bitcoin , which broke consecutive records last week, had a similarly strong start this week. The largest cryptocurrency broke its all-time high of $122,666 in the morning. Those holding short positions in leveraged trades suffered significant losses. Short position liquidation in the last hour approached $200 million.
Bitcoin got off to a very strong start as "Crypto Week" began in the US. The largest cryptocurrency first surpassed $120,000 in the morning and then broke its all-time high of $122,666. As is well known, July 14-18 was declared "Crypto Week" in the US. The Genius Act, known as the stablecoin law in the country, along with the Clarity Act and Anti-CBDC bills, will continue to be debated in Congress this week. It's also noteworthy that Bitcoin's new record came so early in the week.
Meanwhile, during this period of sharp price movements, leveraged traders suffered the most losses. Around 9:00 AM Turkish time, approximately $200 million worth of futures positions were liquidated in the last hour. Short positions accounted for $180 million of this amount. In the last 24 hours, $600 million worth of short positions and $120 million worth of long positions were liquidated.
Bitcoin has risen more than 100% in the last year and more than 40% in the last three months.
The US Federal Reserve will largely determine the future course of action in many investment instruments, particularly cryptocurrencies. The Fed is expected to abandon its long-standing tight monetary policy and begin aggressive interest rate cuts in September. The Fed is scheduled to meet on July 31st. However, markets view the likelihood of a rate cut as very low. US President Donald Trump also says the Fed should cut interest rates immediately. Trump even suggests that Fed Chair Jerome Powell should resign.
