Brookings Economists: Is it time to abandon the euro?
A new report from the American think tank Brookings suggests that the EU should consider abandoning the euro to save its economy.
It makes sense. National currencies are easier to devalue - which helps reduce debt and boost inflation. And in such a fragmented union, coordination is a nightmare.
Meanwhile, countries like Poland and the Czech Republic, which have kept their own currency, are outperforming much of the eurozone in terms of growth.
Maybe it's time to bring back the Deutsche Mark.
