Deep Tide TechFlow News, on July 14, according to Jin10 data reports, after SpaceX prepared to invest $2 billion in xAI, Musk stated that Tesla plans to hold a shareholder vote on whether to invest in xAI. In response to a post on X, Musk said that any decision to support xAI is ultimately not something he can make. Last year, Musk publicly asked X users whether Tesla should invest $5 billion in xAI, stating that he was just testing the waters. However, he indicated at that time that Tesla's board and supporters needed to greenlight that decision. In April of this year, Tesla disclosed that xAI was a customer of Tesla last year, generating $188.3 million in expenses from a commercial, consulting, and support agreement signed with Tesla. Most of this transaction ($191 million) involved xAI purchasing utility-scale energy storage batteries, Megapack, from Tesla.
