According to Foresight News, Kenya's Minister of Information and Communication Technology, William Kabogo, announced on X the launch of the national digital token KenyaNDT (KDT). He stated that the token is deployed on the Solana blockchain, making it the first 'national-level digital asset' in sub-Saharan Africa.

Kabogo stated that Kenya is formulating a national virtual assets policy and a draft bill for virtual asset service providers (VASP) to build a more regulated digital asset regulatory framework. He also disclosed that Kenyan citizens currently have a monthly digital asset trading volume exceeding 500 million dollars, reflecting the high level of public participation in this field.
