The founder of Blum, Smirkis, will not be released
The Moscow City Court has denied for the second time the release of Vladimir Smirkis from custody.
The lawyers requested to mitigate the preventive measure to bail or house arrest, citing the lack of direct evidence, his status as a father of many children, and the absence of previous convictions.
However, the court ruled that the investigation materials are justified, and the preventive measure remains unchanged.
Smirkis has been charged under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - fraud on an especially large scale. He faces up to 10 years in prison. $BNB
